Something not working, or an idea for the app? Write to us — one person makes Chorelie and he answers his own mail.
Install Chorelie on your Apple TV from the App Store, open it, and it will show a six-letter code. On the iPhone that already has your family, go to Settings → Add a device and type that code in. The TV joins your family straight away and stays in sync from then on.
The PIN is stored scrambled, so nobody — including us — can read it back. If you have another device already in your family, you can set a new PIN from its Settings. If not, write to us using the form above and we will help you reset it.
Yes. Settings → Kids → Add a child. Each child gets their own gems, their own history, their own age, and can even have their own look. A switcher appears at the top of the screen once there is more than one, and the TV shows a card for each of them.
Turn on Big Kid Mode for that child in Settings → their name → Money. Their screens switch from gems to real dollars at whatever rate you set (the default is ten cents a gem), and a "Cash out" button appears. Everything is still stored as gems underneath, so you can switch it back at any time and lose nothing.
No, and it never will. Chorelie is not connected to any bank, card or payment system. Cashing out just writes a line in the history so you both remember it happened — you hand over the actual money yourself.
Settings → Look. There are three: Cozy, Cool and Princess. They change the colours, the artwork and the words the app uses, and the choice carries to every device including the TV. You can also give one child a different look from their brother or sister.
A bounty you switch on for a while to help a new habit stick — "this week, if you fall asleep without us in the room, you get a gem". Set one up in Settings → Edit chores → Special Gems with a length of 7, 14 or 30 days. It pays out like any other chore, looks different so it feels special, and retires itself when the time is up.
The chart button on the Activity tab opens a stats page for parents: what has been earned, spent and saved over the last week, month or three months, and — the useful part — exactly which chores the gems are coming from.
